Finally, the .cat top level domain is there! Just what every cat blogger has been waiting for. But, alas, it says here that it's limited to Catalan cats:

ICANN has expressly prohibited the use of the .cat domain for pages about cats, unless they are written in Catalan or concerning Catalan culture.

How boring. Still, at least there's no .dog TLD.

Ever wonder what happens to the kittens God kills every time you, erm, play the clarinet solo? Yes, their souls are transported into the cavity in the space above your head where they grow into Ceiling Cat!

Most blogs are, of course, about cats. Even if the owner does not, in fact, own a cat or even write about them, all blogs have deep down, at some fundamental level, an element of cattiness.

Some blogs, particularly Japanese ones, are also written by cats, such as the one pictured on the right. Even if you have somehow failed to acquire even a rudimentary knowledge of the Japanese script, the patterns of the characters clearly do not originate from a human hand.

Das Phänomen "Hello Kitty" breitet sich mittlerweile fast unkontrollierbar über den Erdball aus. Das Phänomen "Blog" ebenso.  Kein Wunder, wenn die zwei aufeinander treffen: das japanische Katzenwesen ohne Mund bloggt (zur Erleichterung der westlichen Welt: noch auf Japanisch).  Allerdings stammt der letzte Eintrag vom Ende Februar: die Frage, ob Hello Kitty sich mit der im Ostasien grassierenden Hühnergrippe doch angesteckt hat, bleibt also noch offen.

Zum Herzstück eines guten Blogs gehören natürlich Katzenbilder. (Ob auch Hundebesitzer Blogs betreiben, ist mir nicht bekannt). Leider bin ich gerade fernab der heimischen Hygienestreuverteiler, so dass dieser Streuner aus dem nahen Aoyama-Friedhof (Tokio) als Ersatz herhalten muß.

Übrigens: der Friedhof hat nicht nur Katzen sondern auch Deutsche.
