Yurakucho Line
The Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line (有楽町線, Yūrakuchō-sen, line letter Y) is one of the main underground / subway lines running through the centre of Tokyo. It runs from the north-west of the city via Ikebukuro, looping around the south side of the Imperial Palace before passing through the central Yurakucho district from which it takes its name towards the bayfront district, where it terminates at Shin-Kiba.
The Yurakucho line colour is gold, often rendered as yellow, and as a product largely of the 1970s it retains some of the grimy aura of that area. Since 2008 it has been closely intergrated with the Fukutoshin Line, opened in that year, forming part of a mini network together with the Seibu Ikebukuro and Tobu Tojo lines.
