Pocari Sweat: Worrying Developments

Casting around the interweb in a random manner today I discovered that Pocari Sweat also has an English homepage, viz http://www.otsuka.co.jp/pocari_e/pocari1.htm, complementing the official Japanese one.

That is not in itself a very interesting snippet of information and I would be very understanding if you stopped reading now and turned your attention to more pressing issues such as the forthcoming marriage of HRH Prince Charles to a horse. However I do feel you should be keenly aware of the fact that Pocari Sweat is - according to its manufacturer - "A Drink With Properties Similar To Your Body's Own Fluids", a declaration which may be of some import for your future drinking habits.

Now, I am very much aware of what properties my body fluids possess, and am a regular purchaser of a variety of commercially available toiletry to counteract their their more noisome characteristics. Consequently I do not wish to ingest more of the same, and will refrain from further consumption of Pocari Sweat (unless the only available alternative is warm canned milk tea, which is the most vile substance I have yet to imbibe).
