I know that sight - it's round the corner from my favourite chippy in Leicester.

Can I claim my five pound book token now?

That photo is such crap that it could be anywhere.

I'll say Berlin.

@ourmani: Wow, I never knew Leicester had its own Wall. Is it just for throwing up on, or does it divide politically / ideologically / ethnically opposing / conflicting states / communities?

@rk, whoever you are: many thanks for the constructive comment. Ever tried to take a surreptitious photo with a film camera, poor-quality film (no flash usage possible of course) in a restricted area?

Having never been to Berlin in the 80's or any other decade, I'm going to go with Tokyo, 2009. I'm even going to go so far as to say that it's the prison in Fuchu.

Definitely Tokyo. There's a pole in the centre of the picture and quite a few wires/cables are visible. In Berlin pretty much all cables are underground.

Will there be a prize drawing?

And the answer, after a ridiculously long delay (busy and all that), is of course Tokyo.

It is this stretch of "wall" which I happened upon on a dark, damp night and the atmosphere reminded me of Berlin as it once was. I was going to go back and take a picture in daylight but it doesn't look like that will happen this century.
